Hike Description
Waypoint Adventure will be guiding an accessible hike for people with disabilities. We will be hiking the commissary trail at Mount Mitchell State Park. We will plan to hike about ~2 miles, will depend on group needs. We will meet at the Mount Mitchell Park Office (Coordinates: 35.7528, -82.2737, 2388 N.C. 128, Burnsville, NC 28714) Waypoint Adventure has a variety of off-road hiking wheelchairs to accommodate you if needed. Once registered, we will be in touch to discuss specific needs and accommodations.

Parking is limited at our exact meeting location at the park office. Arrive early for parking. Once parking at park office gets full, you can continue to drive up to the Mt. Mitchell summit parking lot. We will come up and shuttle you down from there. On park map in photos, the green circle near the bottom of the map is where we are meeting, the dark blue circle at the top of the map is additional parking where we will come shuttle you if needed.
What to Bring
Accommodations and equipment can be made by special request, please email or call Waypoint at least one week before the date of the trip to make arrangements.
Conditions
Flat-ish trail with some up and down hill sections with mountain and river views. It is always colder up at Mount Mitchell so please dress in layers!
Transportation
Waypoint will not be providing transportation. A shuttle for parking will be provided as needed!
Bathrooms
Accessible bathrooms are located at the trailhead.
