Hike Description
This hike will take participants to one of Western North Carolina's iconic waterfalls, Hickory Nut Falls! Waypoint Adventure will be joining Chimney Rock State Park on two Naturalist guided hikes to make them fully accessible to people with disabilities who are visiting the park, while celebrating Chimney Rocks Annual feathered frenzy, Flock to the Rock event. We will be celebrating fall bird and butterfly migration. This is their biggest birding event of the year! We will hike the popular Hickory Nut Falls trail, which takes you to the bottom of one of the tallest waterfalls east of the Mississippi River. Reward yourself with a magnificent view from the base of this 404-foot natural wonder. It was featured in the epic film, “The Last of the Mohicans.” This hike is 1.4 miles round trip. It is an out-and-back hike. The trail is gently rolling but has several moderate uphill sections, some rocky terrain and a small set of stairs at the base of the Hickory Nut Falls.
Waypoint Adventure has a variety of off-road hiking wheel chairs to accommodate you if needed. Once registered, we will be in touch to discuss specific needs and accommodations.
