Program Description
This cycling program is accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities. We have a variety of adaptive bikes that we will use for this trip. Some of our bikes are more traditional upright bicycles that require teamwork and balance. We also have other models that are side by side or recumbent, low to the ground, tandems. Some have two wheels and require more balance while others are quite sturdy and more supportive with three wheels and supportive seats. If you’d like to give small group tandem cycling a try, this is the trip for you - we’d love to try to find a bike that might work for you. The experience will be about finding the right amount of support in a bike and teammate and working together as a group. The adventure will go from there.
Location/Directions
1 Lodge St, Asheville, NC 28803
We will meet at the parking lot outside the gate of the Biltmore at 9:15AM. The plan is to take minimal vehicles onto the grounds. Some families will park cars outside and ride the Waypoint shuttle. Once the Waypoint shuttle is full, we will condense remaining folks into a few cars to follow the Waypoint shuttle to program location.
What to bring
Accommodations and equipment can be made by special request, please email or call Waypoint at least one week before the date of the trip to make arrangements.
Conditions
We will start in a paved parking lot at Antler Village in the Biltmore. We will ride bikes along paved and unpaved paths.
Transportation
Waypoint will not be providing transportation. Once everyone arrives to the gate at the Biltmore, some participants/families will ride the Waypoint shuttle onto the Biltmore grounds to minimize the amount of cars coming in.
